Like a Women Scorned. I Welcome You Back With Open Arms

Yes I admit ( as you can tell by reading what I have already stated ) I was ready to send the third baseman packing. I said good riddance we don’t need you, the Yankees won those 4 straight titles without you or without a insane power hitter the team relies on him too much to carry them. Every team he has left has immediately gotten better and every team he went to he has failed to meet expectations. Now some of them were not his fault. Texas, well it was his fault for eating up the whole salary but that team was awful, even the Yankees post season failures haven’t been all his fault. Yeah he chocked in the playoffs year after year but the bigger problem was the terrible pitching and honestly it’s not like anyone but Johnny Damon seemed to be doing anything out there, so as much fun as I had blaming him, it’s not fair to put all the blame on the third baseman, after all he didn’t release those crazy bugs in Cleveland with Joba going back out to dominate and thats as big a reason as any as why they couldn’t beat Cleveland and yes of course their starting pitching but thats all ready been said and fixed.

At first I thought great the Yankees will happily take that 300 million and spend it elsewhere build up the bullpen finalize the rotation ( bring back Pettite or a someone as good and post season tested ) and then go out and spend that money to get a power bat or 2 and try and get Cabrera from the Marlins, which would of solved the problems if he would stop eating 76 times a day. Problem is the Marlins are the best team in baseball at grabbing players from other teams farm system and turning them into stars and no doubt they would of wanted the Yankees best prospects, now the Yankees can stick with not messing with the farm system and they don’t have to worry about replacing the third baseman or Posada so those power bats can stay in the line-up. Which of course means one thing the same potent offense will be going out there every day with a much better younger and improved pitching staff.

As of right now the Yankees are set if they get the third baseman back, they will have 4 really good outfielders to rotate and keep them fresh ( with Melky playing center Damon in left Abreu in right and Matsui with his bum knee can DH most of the time. ) Obviously the left side of the field is set, same with second as Cano is only getting better and is just a little patience away from being one of if not the best pure hitter in baseball. Catcher set again with good ole Jorge back now the question is what to do about 1st, quick answer just get rid of Giambi find anyone else. Talks of getting mike Lowell and moving him to first seem like a pipe dream but I’d be perfectly fine with a great defensive first baseman like Doug Mencavwitz ( sp? too lazy ) with that line-up you can afford one avg. bat if it gives you great defense.

Now as for how the third baseman will be treated upon his arrival, just like me the stadium will be waiting with open arms, New York loves their stars and they love their right to boo the hell out of them when they aren’t meeting up to their expectations. As pissed as Yankee fans were at him will, no doubt they will love to have him as the main attraction for the next 7 – 8 years and where else is a better place to be on the verge of breaking every possible batting record there is, and then he can go down as not only one of the best baseball players ever but also as a Yankee and to anyone that truly loves the sport thats worth something. Yankee fans forgive everyone as soon as they come back and hit their first home run, we are fickle like that, still what it mostly comes down to is Yankee fans want someone who wants to rock the pinstripes and go out their and play their best and make sure to never EVER mess up in a big spot and after all thats really not too much to ask for is it a-rod ?
